The Homework Dilema

kimberly-farmer-287677-unsplashMy youngest child’s elementary school recently made the decision to have a no homework policy put into place. I, for one, was elated and so was my daughter, who is now in 3rd grade! Homework really isn’t an issue for us. She does what she has to do and doesn’t complain much. Then, I really started to think about how this would affect her middle school and high school years. Now keep in mind, they still want them to do their reading at home, which we don’t have a problem with since she loves to read.

She has good grades and is doing well in school, so it seems as though homework isn’t really affecting how well she does in school. I can see how this would affect a child who might be struggling in school. Homework means more practice to get better at the things they need help on.

I do think that homework is important, but at the same time, I’m kinda glad that I don’t have to worry about it in elementary school anymore. 🙂

Parents and teachers….what are your views on homework?

My Self-Confidence Booster

IMG_2060Other than my hair and my weight, my biggest self-confidence booster has been joining SeneGence. I had joined with a skin care company before and swore to myself I would never join one again. It just wasn’t for me. Then SeneGence came into my life via LipSense, and I thought to myself, if this lip color can last 12 hours or more on my lips, I wonder what the skin care can do. So I only signed up to get the discount on all my products.

Come to find out, my friends wanted to try everything as well, so that is how I began sharing SeneGence and I haven’t looked back since.

SeneGence skin care was the very first skin care I had ever used that actually changed my skin for the better, and I’ve tried A LOT of expensive department store and direct sales regimes. The texture changed, the color changed, and the hydration changed. I do attribute a lot of it to my habit of washing my face in the morning and in the evening, but also, the fact that our MAKE UP also has our anti-aging ingredients in it, I am treating my face 24/7! I look at myself in the morning and I’m proud of where I am at and I am proud of the skin I have. That in itself is a HUGE confidence builder. Your skin is the first thing people see.

When I joined, I had to pay $55, which to me was a drop in the bucket to get a 20-50% discount on my products. This month only, SeneGence is being super generous and offering to waive the sign up fee! That means you get to join for FREE! There is no catch, no fine print, it’s literally FREE! If you’d like more information, please fill out the form on the Contact page and I will get right back to you! If you are ready to start trying all that SeneGence has to offer, click HERE to find more information and sign up. You can use my Distributor ID 197849 as your Sponsor. I’m here to help and guide you in any way that you need. And I’m not annoying, I promise!

Noom Journey – Week 5

This past week was a bit harder. I didn’t do well at all yesterday, but I held my head high and continued on with today. Sweets are still my weakness, but I have yet to have a cupcake since I started this program, which is a huge win for me!

I’ve been testing out have bigger meals instead of eating snacks in between. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Determined to find what works for me.

Weight loss has been slow, but I’m okay with that. It doesn’t help that I already have issues with my GI system (meaning I don’t go #2 as often as one should), but enough with the TMI! 😂 I’m still trekking on, trying to get to that 157 by the end of September!

I did try something new today that I loved! It was Caulipower Pizza! It’s in the frozen pizza aisle and it was so good! Tasted just like pizza crust and it’s only 330 calories for 1/2 a pizza. Try it and let me know what you think!

Rothy’s – Are they really worth the money?

I’m not the person to usually jump on the latest fad bandwagon, but had to try these amazing shoes for myself before anyone else did. Let’s start at the beginning. I have very tempermental feet. I had a bunionectomy on the right foot 2 years ago. Just recently had a bunionectomy on the left foot and still in my CAM boot as I’m 6 weeks post surgery (today to be exact).

I ordered my first pair 31503411_10215988848971451_743827304181923840_nof Rothy’s earlier this year. I got the pointy toe, because well, they look classy. I normally wear a size 7 and that’s what a I ordered. Most people have to go up a half size for the pointy, but might actually felt a bit too big, but I got used to them. If you do have size issues though, they offer free exchanges for sizing! It’s a win-win!

They are unlike anything you’ve ever worn before. I can’t even explain it. I mean, when you hear that they are made from recycled water bottles, you think, ouch! That sounds uncomfortable, but they are the furthest from it! I’ve worn them to 13-14 hour events and no blisters, no rubbing, and very little pain. The pain is going to happen no matter what you wear when you are standing up non-stop at an event.

Better yet, you can WASH them! Just take the soles out and throw them in the washer. Make sure to use cold water though, as you don’t want your Rothy’s shrinking.

Wondering if they are worth the price tag? They are. They will last forever! Only reason you’ll have to buy new pairs is that you will want ALL the colors!

So, if you are ready to get the most comfortable shoe of your life (aside from Birkenstocks), CLICK HERE to get $20 off your first purchase! You’ll thank me later. 🙂

Do you own any Rothy’s? Comment below and let me know!

Back to School Habits

Untitled design (21)It’s time again for the kids to go back to school. Mine have already gone back and things are going smoothly so far. Here are some helpful habits for back to school time for your kids and for you!

Night Routine

Start the back to school routine BEFORE school actually starts. The girls started school on a Thursday, so we started the back to school bed time on Monday. They got into the routine of shower, brush teeth, get clothes ready, get backpack ready, and then bedtime for reading then sleep. They were ready for the back to school night because they had been preparing the whole week.

Morning Routine

The morning routine is almost more important that the night. The biggest thing to do in the morning is BREAKFAST! Make sure they have a good breakfast before they leave for the day. My 8 year old tends to have Carnation Instant breakfast as she is a very picky eater, so she doesn’t get all of the nutrients she needs. These drinks always give her a great start. My 13 year old is a bit different and will sometimes eat breakfast at home and sometimes have it at school.

After School Routine

My kids know that when they come home, the first thing that needs to be done is homework! They each have their “homework space” in the house where they concentrate best. They will usually have a snack with their homework, so that makes the process a little easier. I diffuse oils a lot during school time to keep the families immunity up and I’m usually diffusing On Guard by DoTerra starting around lunch time and throughout the rest of the day and evening to help keep our immunities strong and bugs at bay. Also, has a nice scent to it. Once homework is done, backpacks get put in their designated spot and the girls have their computer time. We are a high-tech family, so each girl has their own computer. Others will probably think that our girls have too much screen time, and everyone has their own opinion, but they are usually quiet and not fighting, and I’m totally okay with that. 🙂

I’d love to hear your back to school habits for your family! Always ready to hear great ideas!
