I’m a Bad Mom: Screen Time

We are always hearing to limit our children’s screen time. This may be a sore topic for some, but it’s something that I’ve been thinking about for awhile now. We allow the girls to have a set number of hours on their computers each day, at which time, when the time is up it logs them off. They have no screen time after 7:30 p.m. but they are able to get on ipads and/or phones once the 7:30 p.m. mark has passed. I also don’t limit how much television they watch. I just hear it now….people groaning because I let my kids have too much screen time, but our household is a very tech-saavy household. When our husband’s degree is in Computer Information Systems, and yours is in Health Information Management, you have to expect that we are going to be tied to some kind of electronic device at some point during the day.

When I was growing up, I watched a lot of tv. I was never limited as to how much I could watch and I think I turned out okay! I do usually have my phone with me every where I go and I’m constantly checking emails, FB, or Instagram, but I don’t really consider that an issue. If it annoys you, so sorry, you don’t have to be my friend if you don’t want to.

I feel like technology will always be around and our kids will have to be knowlegdable about it, if we expect them to make it in this world. You can call me a bad mom, but I’m okay with that. Before, it would have bothered me, but I know that I am the best mom I can be and my kids are growing up just fine, even if they are addicted to Fortnite and Roblox.
