The Homework Dilema

kimberly-farmer-287677-unsplashMy youngest child’s elementary school recently made the decision to have a no homework policy put into place. I, for one, was elated and so was my daughter, who is now in 3rd grade! Homework really isn’t an issue for us. She does what she has to do and doesn’t complain much. Then, I really started to think about how this would affect her middle school and high school years. Now keep in mind, they still want them to do their reading at home, which we don’t have a problem with since she loves to read.

She has good grades and is doing well in school, so it seems as though homework isn’t really affecting how well she does in school. I can see how this would affect a child who might be struggling in school. Homework means more practice to get better at the things they need help on.

I do think that homework is important, but at the same time, I’m kinda glad that I don’t have to worry about it in elementary school anymore. 🙂

Parents and teachers….what are your views on homework?
